The number of units depends on the treatment area, your facial anatomy, muscle activity, and desired results. Your provider will evaluate these factors and create a personalized treatment plan during your consultation.
Most patients describe the injections as feeling like a quick pinch. A fine needle is used, and treatment of forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet generally takes approximately 10–15 minutes.
BOTOX® Cosmetic requires minimal downtime, and many patients can return to their normal daily routine immediately afterward. Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or discomfort may occur around the injection sites.
Treatment frequency varies by patient, but BOTOX® Cosmetic appointments should be spaced at least 90 days apart. Your provider can recommend an appropriate maintenance schedule.
Tell your provider about all medical conditions, medications, supplements, allergies, previous facial procedures, and prior botulinum toxin treatments. You should also disclose if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, breastfeeding, have a muscle or nerve condition, or have an infection near the planned injection area.
